Marco Peluso's journey from managing a multimillion-dollar hedge fund to starting a health care technology company began the day his father suffered a stroke right before his very ears. "It was a rather intense experience because it happened while he was on the phone with me," Peluso, 37, said in an interview last week at the International Consumer Electronics Show, where he was promoting his company Qardio's first two smartphone-enabled home health tracking devices. Qardio, based both in San Francisco's South of Market district and in London, is part of a rapidly growing field of health and fitness apps and devices. The trade show's sponsor, the Consumer Electronics Association, said the number of digital health and fitness companies exhibiting this year increased by 40 percent from 2013. http://www.sfgate.com/technology/article/Dad-inspires-app-linked-blood-pressure-heart-5134844.php
